PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Over 40,000 sq. ft of SlopeShield Plus Self-Adhered breathable roofing underlayment was selected for the restoration roofing project on a 134-year-old farmhouse in the Ottawa Research and Development Center. The project was underway in frigid winter weather in early 2020. SlopeShield Plus Self-Adhered was chosen foremost for its ability to be installed in the cold -18°C ( -0.4°F) temperatures without primer.
SlopeShield Plus SA is breathable and airtight and offers exceptional water holdout. Its vapor permeability will help to maintain the beauty of the cedar shakes installed over a batten counter-batten system—all of which will ensure the integrity of the original farmhouse design.
The Ottawa Research and Development Centre is located in Ottawa, Ontario at the Central Experimental Farm. The Centre leads Manitoba to Prince Edward Island in crop development and research.
