WALLSHIELD® Water Resistive Barrier Membrane was installed on the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, New York. VaproShield is proud to have contributed to the Omega Institute, one of only five projects nationwide certified by the Living Building Challenge.Implemented in 2006, the Living Building Challenge evaluates construction projects for environmental and aesthetic characteristics in seven key performance areas or “Petals”. These “Petals” include: site, water, energy, health, materials, equity, and beauty (aesthetic). To be Living Building Challenge certified, the building must be operational for a period of 12 consecutive months prior to review. This rule ensures measurable results as all building products must show they are performing at or above the product's projected standard when reviewed.WALLSHIELD® made a valuable addition to the Omega Institute, contributing to improved energy efficiency, superior air quality and increased building longevity. The water resistive barrier membrane is non-toxic and contains zero VOC's. WALLSHIELD® is free of all red list chemicals (hazardous chemicals as identified by the Living Building Challenge).WALLSHIELD® provides easy-to-install, environmentally sound building envelope protection. The water resistive barrier reduces time and expense when compared to other multi-piece water resistive barriers, making green building simpler and more affordable for everyone.
