Over 50,000 sq. ft. of WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was installed on Candlewood Suites in Fort Drum, New York. The hotel is the first in the country to utilize cross-laminated timber (CLT), a new and sustainable building material rapidly gaining momentum in the industry.
Replacing a fluid-applied air barrier that failed on previous CLT LendLease project, WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was used for its exceptionally high drying capacity, which will prove instrumental in drying out the CLT over time. WrapShield SA’s innovative pressure sensitive adhesive easily adhered to the CLT and allowed for initial repositioning, helping to ensure proper installation prior to the EFIS and brick cladding. Detailing was simplified using VaproShield’s flashing accessories, VaproFlashing SA and VaproBond, saving valuable field labor time.
The 65,000+ square foot structure will include nearly 100 rooms, and incorporates CLT in the floors, roof, exterior walls, shaft walls and select interior walls.
