WrapShield SA Self-Adhered
Over 50,000 sq. ft. of WrapShield SA Self-Adhered Water Resistive Vapor Permeable Air Barrier Sheet was installed on the renovated BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario in Canada.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
BMO Field, Canada’s first soccer-specific stadium and home of Toronto FC, has undergone the first phase of a $120 million 2-year renovation project, which increased capacity from 21,000 to 30,000 permanent seats under new roofing. The stadium features over 50,000 sq. ft. of WrapShield SA Self-Adhered Water Resistive Vapor Permeable Air Barrier Sheet Membrane.
Renovations began in late September 2014 and the first phase was completed in May 2015, just in time for Toronto FC’s home opener. WrapShield SA Self-Adhered is all climate friendly and was installed in variant weather conditions, which was ideal for construction during Toronto’s winter months.
The massive renovation project also included 15 new boxes/lounges in the east, additional washrooms and concession stands, and a new concourse on the second level connecting the stadium. This upgrade enables BMO Field to host other major sporting events outside of soccer.
According to Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly, “The improved stadium will become an incredible sport destination that will be enjoyed by fans from across Toronto and beyond."
