Mass timber can be susceptible to mold, cracks, and even potential structural damage unless properly protected. Over 50,000 sq.ft. of SlopeShield Plus SA vapor permeable roofing underlayment is protecting the mass timber decking from the wet and rainy Pacific northwest weather. It’s tough and durable to heavy machinery, building materials, and even handles ponding water which can be easily swept away instead of seeping into the mass timber. Work crews like the non-slip surface, giving them extra traction.

Most importantly, SlopeShield Plus SA vapor permeable moisture protection does not inhibit mass timber substrate drying. Once the mass timber dries, it will not get wetter, and the deck is protected from future rain events.

SlopeShield Plus SA remains permanently installed, allowing the mass timber to “breathe” for the life of the building.
