PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Sarasota County Planning and Development Services building in Sarasota, Florida, incorporated 25,000 sq.ft. of RevealShield SA by VaproShield behind the high-performance open-joint cladding system. Designed by Goodwyn Mills Cawood and installed by Alpha Insulation & Waterproofing, the project features two exterior cladding types: HPL and metal panels.
RevealShield SA was selected for its black, UV-stable surface—built for open-joint systems. As a vapor permeable, weather resistive air barrier, it allows moisture vapor to escape while protecting against bulk water and air infiltration. Its 12-month UV exposure rating ensures installation flexibility without compromising long-term performance, and its dark color maintains visual consistency behind open joints.
RevealShield SA meets stringent safety standards, achieving zero flame spread and excelling in cone calorimeter tests. It complies with current IBC Chapter 1402.5 for Exterior Wall NFPA 285 exemptions, offering architects and builders a code-compliant solution for modern façade systems.
Installed on gypsum substrate, RevealShield SA installation was supported by VaproShield representative Taylor Architectural Products Inc., with Halfacre Construction Company serving as the general contractor.
With RevealShield SA in place, the Sarasota County Planning and Development Services building benefits from a robust weather resistive air barrier—enhancing durability, safety, and energy efficiency while supporting a clean, modern exterior design.
