PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Prefabrication continues to create new opportunities for high-performance building envelope systems, and this New Zealand prefabrication plant demonstrates how VaproShield products can be integrated into the process. The innovative team at Makers is using VaproShield membranes across both the walls and roof to create air barrier continuity in the building enclosure.
RevealShield SA is installed on the walls, providing a durable, vapor permeable air barrier that protects the wall assembly while allowing the structure to dry. SlopeShield Plus SA is installed on the roof, where it acts as the air barrier and permeable vapor retarder within the roof system.
Connecting RevealShield SA at the walls with SlopeShield Plus SA at the roof creates air barrier continuity from roof to wall. This integrated approach provides consistent air barrier protection across the building enclosure while allowing vapor movement through the wall and roof assemblies.
While currently a smaller-scale application, the project demonstrates the potential for VaproShield systems to support the growing prefabrication industry. As innovative manufacturers like Makers continue to advance off-site construction methods, connecting wall and roof air barrier systems can help create more consistent, high-performance building enclosures.
