PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Over 2,800 sq. ft. of WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED Air Barrier Sheet and 4,650 sq. ft. of SLOPESHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED was installed on the Alice Ferguson Foundation's Potomac Watershed Study Center. The Potomac Watershed Study Center is one of five other VaproShield projects seeking Living Building Challenge certification upon completion.
The Living Building Challenge evaluates construction projects for environmental and aesthetic characteristics in seven key performance areas or “Petals”. These “Petals” include: site, water, energy, health, materials, equity, and beauty (aesthetic). To be Living Building Challenge certified, the building must be operational for a period of 12 consecutive months prior to review. This rule ensures measurable results as all building products must show they are performing at or above the product's projected standard when reviewed.
With zero VOC's and no red list chemicals (hazardous chemicals as identified by the Living Building Challenge), WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED and SLOPESHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED are environmentally-sound additions to the Potomac Watershed project.
Biomimicry is an integral element to the design of all VaproShield products, including WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED and SLOPESHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED. Inspired by a frog's permeable, breathable skin, VaproShield has created the closest thing to Mother Nature.
