WrapShield SA Self-Adhered
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Seattle Condominium Tower, a mixed-use high-rise project located in Seattle, WA, incorporated VaproShield’s WrapShield SA Self-Adhered as a key component in its building envelope. Covering 35,000 sq.ft. across CMU and gypsum sheathing, WrapShield SA was installed to meet energy efficiency and durability demands. By utilizing an air barrier, the project aims to enhance the quality and comfort of the living spaces, while also addressing air quality standards crucial to high-rise construction.
A major factor in the selection of WrapShield SA for this project was its compliance with the C402.5 Washington State Energy Code, which mandates tighter building envelopes to achieve higher energy efficiency. As an ASTM E2357-tested airtight barrier, WrapShield SA will contribute significantly to minimizing air infiltration – this reduction in air leakage has a direct impact on the building's energy consumption, supporting a more sustainable operation and reducing utility costs for future residents.
WrapShield SA also offers robust resistance to bulk water intrusion, an essential feature in Seattle's often wet and variable climate. Installed along the lower portion of the building, the membrane effectively mitigates water penetration risks, protecting both the interior and exterior surfaces from mold and mildew. The inclusion of WrapShield SA underscores the project’s commitment to long-term performance, ensuring that the Seattle Condominium Tower remains resilient and efficient for years to come.
