PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Over 5,000 sq. ft. of WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was installed on Orchard Heights, a custom-built luxury home on the top of the Eola hills of West Salem, OR.
With sustainability being the driving force behind the project, the goal was to create a high-performance, energy-efficient building that could last the next 100 years. To achieve this end, the architect opted for a continuous exterior insulation and rainscreen system wrapped in a permeable WRB/Air-barrier sheet membrane.
An entirely self-adhering sheet good, WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was ideal for the project’s design objectives. It created a continuous air barrier system and was effortlessly installed over the plywood substrate. Furthermore, it’s high permeability can reduce the instance of moisture-related problems—such as mold, mildew, and rot—for the life of the building by allowing vapor and moisture to escape instead of being trapped in home’s wall cavities.
As the first water resistive barrier/air barrier sheet good membrane to earn Declare label, WrapShield SA is at the forefront of the transparency movement, and will help Orchard Heights obtain LEED credits and Passive house designation upon completion.
