WrapShield SA Self-Adhered
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Tower Steps project, consisting of two 7-story apartment buildings with a total of 275 units, an adult care center, and a child care center, required a reliable and high-performing air and water resistive barrier. Over 210,000 sq.ft. of WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was selected to provide long-term durability, moisture management, and energy efficiency.
WrapShield SA was adhered directly to the building’s gypsum sheathing and concrete substrates, providing an airtight, vapor-permeable barrier that helps prevent moisture infiltration while allowing vapor to escape. This feature is essential to preventing mold growth and structural damage over the life of the building.
The C402.5 Washington State Energy Code requires a tighter building envelope to meet energy efficiency standards. WrapShield SA was integral in achieving this requirement by minimizing air infiltration and creating a highly energy-efficient structure. As an ASTM E2357-tested airtight barrier, it plays a vital role in improving the building’s energy performance, resulting in lower utility costs for occupants.
