WrapShield SA Self-Adhered
“The Grotto” alongside Brody Hall on the campus of Michigan State University which is the largest non-military cafeteria in the world.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
VaproShield WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED is featured on “The Grotto,” a 9000 ft2 addition to Brody Hall. The Grotto, a semi-circular structure on in the front of the building will be surrounded by an intricate garden, water and rocks. This complex project required multiple layers of waterproofing. WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED was chosen for ease of installation, no primer required, and for its high perm rating (50 perms). Trespa open joint cladding will finish the outside of The Grotto, hence the installation of WRAPSHIELD® Black at the open joint openings.
The overall renovation of Brody Hall started in January 2009. The entire project will be open to students in fall 2011. This project will also be LEED certified.
Brody Hall constructed from 1954-1956, is the largest non-military cafeteria in the world, serving the needs of over 2400 residents daily from the six surrounding residence halls.
