PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Bryn Athyn Church School, located in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, recently underwent multi-phase construction for a state-of-the-art campus and utilized both WrapShield SA Self-Adhered and SlopeShield Plus SA Self-Adhered for its new structures. With 80,000 sq. ft. of WrapShield SA and 120,000 sq. ft. of SlopeShield Plus SA specified, the project required high-performance building envelope and roof assembly protection to ensure optimum longevity for the future campus. 

The high drying capacity WrapShield SA was installed on gypsum across the entire campus which allowed the building substrate to dry through moisture vapor diffusion all while preventing bulk water infiltration, both of which reduced the risk of mold and mildew. As an ASTM E2357 tested airtight barrier, WrapShield SA and SlopeShield Plus SA enhanced energy efficiency by minimizing air infiltration, contributing to lower utility costs throughout the building's life.

SlopeShield Plus SA was applied over plywood coupled with XPS insulation and finally a robust standing seam metal roof. Its durability and readiness for phase construction rendered it an ideal choice for the project. It withstood up to 180 days of exposure to the elements, providing temporary weather protection before the final roof installation. As an air barrier and permeable vapor retarder, SlopeShield Plus SA effectively managed moisture within the roof assembly, reducing condensation and enhancing overall energy efficiency.
