BlockShield SA Plus for Roofs
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The private residence roof project is a notable example of modernizing a mid-century modern structure, while enhancing its sustainability and durability. Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this renovation focused on the home's roofing system, originally constructed in the 1950s. In a significant upgrade, 8,500 sq.ft. of BlockShield SA Plus for roofs, a self-adhered air and vapor barrier membrane, was installed. BlockShield SA Plus is non-asphaltic, air, and vapor barrier membrane that adhered directly to the OSB.
The membrane is impermeable to air, water, and moisture vapor, ensuring the home remains dry and well-insulated against weather extremes. Its ability to be installed in below freezing temperatures and compatibility with various building sealants provided additional flexibility during the installation process.
