The Chesapeake Bay Foundation goes beyond LEED and achieves Living Building Challenge (LBC) certification with its Brock Environmental Center. The Center features net-zero CO2 emissions, and revolutionizes sustainability.
SlopeShield SA Self-Adhered Water Resistive Vapor Permeable Air Barrier Roof Underlayment was chosen to be installed under the 50-year zinc shingles which outlast traditional shingles and omit lower toxicity. SlopeShield SA Self-Adhered helps this energy efficient initiative by having zero VOC’s, easy installation and being free of Red List chemicals, which meets the strict guidelines of the LBC. SlopeShield SA Self-Adhered also protects the roofing structure, adding to the building’s energy efficiency.
At 10,000 sq. ft., the Center offers a plethora of exciting and eco-friendly features including: natural ventilation, daylighting and sunshading, geo-thermal heating and cooling and super installation.
