ENR Midwest’s 2018 Best Projects – Energy/Industrial
VaproShield is honored to announce that their latest high-performance project in West Michigan—Holland Energy Park—received the ‘Best Energy/Industrial” Award in the 2019 ENR Midwest Best Projects Competition. Holland Energy Park is the second VaproShield project to win an ENR award, following Bridge on Race in Philadelphia.
2018 ENR Best Projects Award Winner
VaproShield’s high-profile Philadelphia project, Bridge on Race, received the ‘Best Residential Hospitality’ Award in this year’s ENR MidAtlantic Best Projects Competition. Bridge on Race is the second Gluck+ project to feature VaproShield products after The Stack—a groundbreaking modular building also located in Philadelphia, PA.
VaproShield's Technical Manager, Kevin Nolan, was approached by Walls & Ceilings magazine to write an article about rainscreen solutions for stucco cladding. The article covers:
- An examination of traditional three coat stucco over lath
- The multiple variables used to determine the depth or size of the drainage cavity
- What makes the addition of exterior insulation difficult
- NFPA 285: what it is and why it's important
- How and why to consider a sequence of components in your assembly
VaproShield Honored by Durability + Design Magazine with Elevation Award for Air Barrier and Moisture Management
Radius at the Banks, a VaproShield project in Cincinnati, Ohio, has received the 2017 Elevation Award for ‘Air Barrier and Moisture Management’ by Design + Durability magazine. This unique award recognizes exceptional air barrier and moisture management systems—including related accessories—that excel in design and installation detailing.
Developers for Radius at the Banks switched from a traditional fluid-applied barrier to WrapShield SA Self-Adhered Water Resistive Vapor Permeable Air Barrier Membrane, citing the product’s versatility and ability to be installed in temperatures that were too cold for the originally specified fluid-applied WRB. This critical role in bringing the large-scale project to successful completion was a key factor in securing the award nomination.
The awards were presented during a breakfast reception on September 14th at the Lippitt House Museum during CONSTRUCT 2017, in Providence, Rhode Island. Award winners will also be recognized in D+D In Depth and the Fall 2017 issue of Durability + Design magazine.
Beyond Green Award of Merit for a High-Performance Innovation
VaproShield’s Two Component Air Barrier System™ received the 2016 Beyond Green™ Award of Merit for a High-Performance Innovation by the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC). This unique award recognizes the innovations that shape, inform, and catalyze the high-performance building market, as well as the real-world application of high-performance design and construction practices.
Hosted annually by the National Institute of Building Sciences Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC), the Beyond Green™ Awards honor innovations that best exemplify the eight design objectives of a high-performance building: sustainability, accessibility, aesthetics, cost-effectiveness, functionality, productivity, historical sensitivity, and safety and security.
Beyond Green juror David Underwood, ASHRAE past president and founder of Isotherm Engineering Ltd, noted “VaproShield identified a need to deliver high-performance building enclosures while addressing challenges with the availability of a skilled technical workforce, providing a safe work environment and meeting green building program requirements. Their approach to facilitate achievement of high-performance buildings led to us recognizing them with an Award of Merit for High-Performance Innovations. In fact their product (VaproShield) was used on the Brock Center, winner of the Honor Award,"
VaproShield received their award on January 12th at a special Beyond Green™ Awards Luncheon, to be held during The National Institute of Building Sciences Fifth Annual Conference and Expo: Building Innovation 2017, the week of January 9-12, in Washington, D.C. The Two Component Air Barrier System will be published as a case study on the Whole Building Design Guide® website and be announced in The National Institute of Building Sciences newsletter.
Architectural Record Continuing Education Award
VaproShield receives award for Fastest Moving Continuing Education Course awarded by Architectural Record. During the annual 2016 Advertising Excellence Awards Breakfast, VaproShield was recognized in front of over 500 architects as having one of the “Top 3 Fastest Moving” CEU online courses. VaproShield Awarded Declare Label
VaproShield is proud to announce the WrapShield SA Self-Adhered System has completed the process of obtaining a Declare label. WrapShield SA Self-Adhered System is the first water resistive barrier (WRB)/air barrier self-adhered sheet good membrane system to earn a Declare label placing the system at the forefront of the transparency movement.
VaproShield’s innovative self-adhered vapor permeable, water resistive air barrier membranes: WrapShield SA Self-Adhered and RevealShield SA Self-Adhered (for open joint rain screen cladding systems) received approval from Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) on April 20, 2015.
Both approved membranes are fully self-adhered water resistive barriers (WRB) and air barriers (AB) with a cutting edge adhesive that does not require primers, is void of VOC’s and can be applied in below freezing temperatures.
Architectural Record Magazine Record Product
RevealShield SA Self-Adhered Chosen as one of Architectural Record’s “Best New Products of the Year”.
Architectural Record Magazine, the #1 source for architecture design, modern architecture, and green architecture, recognized RevealShield SA™ Self-Adhered as one of the year’s most innovative and useful building products of 2014 in its annual Record Products competition.
Each September, Architectural Record invites manufacturers to send in their latest and greatest building products, materials, and technologies in the market – from furniture and lighting to finishes and facades. The main goal of the annual Record Products competition is to highlight the most useful, interesting and innovative products of the year. Products are judged on the criteria of innovation, usefulness, and—where applicable—aesthetics.
Drawing over 500 entries in multiple categories, winners were chosen by a panel of highly qualified product experts from leading architecture and design firms who specialize in product specification. RevealShield SA Self-Adhered was one of only 14 winners in the Facades category.
