| WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED Air Barrier is being installed at the Norton Sound Hospital in Nome, Alaska during extreme weather conditions near 0°F and constant winds of 20-50 mph. The demanding requirements of this project made WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED membrane the perfect air barrier solution. WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED Air Barrier membrane fully bonds to the most common construction substrates and offered all of the required attributes of an air barrier: easy to install, permeability (50 perms), no primer, zero VOC’s and no negative effects on the EPS foam. |

Extreme Conditions Made WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED the ONLY Solution The extremely cold climate (sustained temperatures of 0°F) would not allow the use of liquid or sheet good air barriers requiring primer. A mechanically attached air barrier would have been difficult and impractical to install due to the continuous winds (20-50 mph), and would have required long length fasteners, penetrating the membrane into the building envelope. These long fastener penetrations would dramatically compromise the air barrier system performance and impact the overall thermal value of the building.WRAPSHIELD SA® SELF-ADHERED Air Barrier membrane offered all the required attributes: easy to install, permeability (50 perms), no primer, zero VOC’s and no negative effects on the EPS foam, ensuring a successful and on-time installation. |
